Faye’s Story

Meet The Founder

Hi, I’m Faye, the founder of Goodman’s Pet Cremations, and this is my story.

I never anticipated bringing Roxanne into my life. She just appeared on my Facebook feed as an unwanted pet looking for a loving home. I don’t know why, but I felt an immediate connection with her—that cow-looking pattern coat and those big, loving eyes. Over the next 14 years we spent together, Roxy’s gentle spirit touched everyone she met, radiating warmth and kindness wherever she went. Every day, I still smile at a thought or comment that reminds me of the unique bond we all shared, including the bond she had with my two children—her boys, their Nanny dog—who grew up alongside her, treasuring every moment together.

When the day arrived to say goodbye, I felt like I was experiencing the worst day of my life. The overwhelming pain of losing her left an undeniable void that is difficult to articulate. All I know is that my heart ached, and it was of little comfort to hear what a great life Roxy had or how she had lived to a grand age for a dog. My experience of parting from Roxy was extremely overwhelming and deeply emotional; my grief ran deep and at times took my breath away. Losing Roxy, my beloved Staffie, profoundly affected me—I felt lost. I didn’t fully grasp the incredible love and support she gave me daily. Each morning, I woke to her joyful greetings and unconditional love, which filled my heart. She knew when I was happy, sad, or worried and was always there for both company and a cuddle. I didn’t save her—we saved each other. Roxy acted almost human at times and desperately wanted to mother everything—even my sister’s tortoises didn’t escape her love, lol.

And so, we chose to lay Roxy to rest in our garden, believing it was the right choice since I had never buried a pet before. That night, in a shocking turn of events, a fox dug her up, leaving me utterly mortified. This poignant experience became the driving force behind Goodman’s Pet Cremations. Through this journey, I strive to honor Roxy’s memory and provide compassionate support and understanding to others navigating their grief. My hope is to help others navigate their grief and discover compassionate ways to remember and celebrate the love of their cherished pets.
